Clatskanie principal named in 'sextortion' lawsuit resigns

CLATSKANIE, OR (KPTV) -

Clatskanie High School principal Jeff Baughman resigned this week in the wake of a "sextortion" lawsuit filed by teenage girls at the school.

The school board voted to accept Baughman's resignation on Monday night. It also voted to promote Amy Mcneil to principal and hire Ryan Tompkins, a social studies teacher, to take on additional duties as athletic director.

Baughman's resignation letter cited "personal reasons" as the reason behind his resignation.

Josi Harrison and Laura Lefebvre say they were bullied into sending nude photos of themselves to boys at their school. They filed a multi-million dollar federal lawsuit against the Clatskanie School District. Another teenage girl, who did not want to be identified, is also a part of that lawsuit.

The girls claim when they went to their principal, teachers and counselors about what was going on they were told just to "suck it up."

The teens eventually transferred out of the district, and moved away to avoid any more harassment.

So far, the Clatskanie School District has declined to comment on the lawsuit.
