PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A 16-year-old girl is accused of five different burglaries, all within a quarter-mile of her southwest Portland home.

Portland Police Bureau detectives served a search warrant at the girl's home in the 11200 block of Southwest 45th Avenue Wednesday morning.

The girl, who is not being identified, was arrested on burglary charges.

Investigators said she stole from homes all within 1,000 feet of her own residence. Detectives said they discovered a large amount of stolen property at her home.

Police said the burglaries took place between July and October.

"I was pretty sure it was a girl because of the things they stole," said Dagny Stark, whose home was burglarized in August. "I just assumed my stuff was gone, like just counted it as a loss."

Stark said computers, clothes, jewelry, nail polish, some DVDs and several other belongings were stolen from the home she shares with a roommate. She got a call from police last week about some possible leads in the case, she said.

Keegan McCollum said he thought it was strange when he noticed the teenage suspect pushing his neighbor's blue recycling bin up the street about two months ago, "which, I'm told, was the means in which she stole things by."

Ed Weber, who lives around the corner from the teenage suspect, installed security cameras on his home after one of his neighbors was hit twice.

"I'm glad that it's over," Weber said. "It's kind of sad. Maybe she can get some help."

No one answered the door when a FOX 12 crew stopped by the teenage suspect's home for comment.

The girl was taken to the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Hall. The investigation is continuing.
