Gamecocks, Tigers jump in AP Poll

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, SC ( The Gamecocks (8-2, 6-2) have been ranked 61 consecutive weeks in the poll, which extends their school record-long streak. South Carolina is tied with Stanford for fifth-longest current streak of being ranked in the AP Top 25.

Alabama continued its perfect season and hold on the top spot in the poll after defeating Chattanooga 49-0 on Saturday night. Only Florida State received first place votes aside from the Crimson Tide.

Auburn and Missouri were both risers in the poll as well thanks to losses ahead of them. The Tigers, ranked No. 7 a week ago, jumped two spots during their bye week as they prepare for the Crimson Tide.

Missouri kept its path on track to the SEC Championship Game with a 24-10 victory over Ole Miss on the road. The Tigers moved up three spots and are ranked No. 5 with the season finale against Texas A&M at home this Saturday. A win means an Eastern Division championship while a loss would send the Gamecocks to the Georgia Dome.

Clemson also jumped one spot to No. 6 making next Saturday's match up against the Gamescocks a must see.

LSU and Texas A&M met on the field at Tiger Stadium on Saturday afternoon with the home side coming out on top. The Aggies dropped 10 spots and are currently ranked 19th in the AP Poll. LSU jumped from No. 18 to No. 15 with the win.

The Rebels, ranked No. 24 nationally entering the week, dropped out of the AP Poll with the loss to Missouri.
