An Amber Alert has been activated in Oregon for a 14-year-old girl from Kennewick, WA.

The Amber Alert was first activated in Washington Thursday afternoon. Police said Elizabeth Romero was last seen at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday leaving school for lunch.

Investigators said she got into her boyfriend's forest green Ford Escape SUV, but never returned to school.

Police believe she was abducted, is in danger and may be heading to Mexico.

The girl's mother told investigators she received a text message from an unknown phone number Thursday. The person claimed to be Romero and stated she was heading to Mexico with her boyfriend.

The mother wrote back, asking for a current photo of her daughter, but the request was ignored.

Romero is a Hispanic girl, 5'3" and 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white top and dark pants. She had a backpack and a pink purse.

The suspect is identified as Edwardo Rosales, 19. He is a Hispanic man, 5'9" and 225 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Kennewick police said Rosales is wanted for kidnapping. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

If you see Romero, Rosales or his SUV, which has a temporary license tag in the window, call 911.

The Oregon Amber Alert was activated in this case around 5 p.m.
