PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Rather than getting a meal deal, the alleged driver of a stolen car was arrested Saturday night after a Portland police officer spotted him enter the drive-thru of a fast food restaurant.

A spokesman for Portland police said that the car reported stolen was seen at 8:39 p.m. in the area of Southeast 148th and Division, pulling into Carl's Jr.

The officer requested cover as he pulled up behind the stolen car in the drive-thru. But the driver of the car attempted to flee the scene by backing into the patrol car, then forward into the vehicle in front of him.

When the driver attempted to escape by driving over the curb, the car got stuck.

The driver then jumped out on foot and ran away. Police flooded the scene to search the area.

With the help of a police K-9, the suspect was found, hiding on the roof of an apartment complex nearby.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old Scott Petersen, was arrested on multiple charges including outstanding warrants, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, attempt to elude, criminal mischief, reckless driving and reckless endangerment.

No one was injured during the incident.
