PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A utility truck slid down a ravine and caught fire Thursday morning on a road that is now closed until Monday due to icy conditions.

A Century Link truck went off Northwest Logie Trail Road near Highway 30. Emergency crews described the steep and winding road as being very icy Thursday.

They said the driver began sliding while going around a tight curve, attempted to stop, but the truck kept on sliding off the road.

Firefighters said the driver jumped out before his truck went over the embankment. A Century Link spokesperson said the driver was not injured.

Multnomah County road workers said it was just one of several crashes on the road between Highway 30 and Northwest Skyline Boulevard on Thursday. Now, Logie Trail Road is closed until Monday morning due to the icy conditions.

Local access will be maintained for residents from Highway 30 on the lower end of the road. Alternate routes include Northwest Cornelius Pass Road.
