PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man was badly injured overnight after being hit by a car in east Portland.

Portland Police said that at about 12:43 a.m., the 29-year-old had stepped off the MAX platform at 122nd Avenue and East Burnside and into the southbound lane of traffic.

An oncoming Honda Civic driven by a 23-year-old female driver struck him. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police in the investigation. She was not impaired, nor was she speeding, according to police.

The male victim was transported to a local hospital with traumatic injuries. Police said he is expected to survive.

Neither of the parties' identities have been released.

Police said no citations or charges were issued and the case will be given to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office at the completion of the investigation.
