CORBETT, OR (KPTV) -

Firefighters found a body after a blaze destroyed a Corbett home on the 35000 block of SE Hurlburt Road.

A neighbor reported the fire at 12:12 a.m. By the time crews got to the scene, the home was engulfed in flames, according to Multnomah County Rural Fire Protection Chief Phil Dearixon.

Firefighters immediately did a preliminary check of the first floor but did not find anyone inside the home. The reporting neighbor said the car of the person who lived there was not in the driveway.

Firefighters were still unable to get ahold of the person who lives there.

Once they knocked down the fire, they found a body inside the home.

The home is located 2 miles away from the nearest fire hydrant, forcing crews to use tanker trucks filled with water from Springdale.

Crews told KPTV the fire caused significant damage to the basement, leading them to believe that's where it started.

There was nothing suspicious about the fire, according to Dearixon.
