PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A woman was hit and killed by a car in northeast Portland Tuesday.

Police were called to the scene at Northeast 117th and Glisan Street just after 3 p.m.

Emergency crews provided medical treatment to the victim, a woman in her late 50s, but she did not survive.

Investigators said she appeared to be walking her dog in a marked crosswalk when she was hit. The dog was not harmed in the crash.

Police said the driver, an 80-year-old woman, was heading westbound when the collision occurred. She remained at the scene and has cooperated with the investigation.

Police said it does not appear she was impaired by drugs or alcohol.

No charges or citations have been issued in this case. When the investigation is complete, it will be forwarded to the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for review.

Glisan Street was closed in both directions for the investigation.

The names of those involved are expected to be released on Wednesday.

Portland police said this is the 34th traffic-related death in Portland in 2013.
