GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH (WOIO) -

A man is facing charges for tampering with police records in Garfield Heights.

Thomas Craven is facing a felony charge for hacking into a police computer system.

Police say Craven had a contract for handling the Garfield Heights records system.

The city changed vendors overseeing its system a few months ago. After that, the police chief tells 19 Action News that Craven did some things which were "improper."

The charge shows Craven deleted files, but police are not saying more. The Defense Attorney calls it a "witch hunt" and says nothing was done illegally.

19 Action News has also learned that Craven holds contracts to handle police computer systems throughout the area.
