A man who worked as a lifeguard at Mt. Hood Community College is accused of sexually abusing underage victims.

Samuel Melthratter, 21, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at his home on the 1900 block of S.E. Palmquist Road in Gresham.

A grand jury indicted him on charges of sodomy and sex abuse.

Detectives said Melthratter sexually abused at least three children he had contact with through his lifeguarding job at the college. Police said the victims are three girls, ages 14, 16 and 17.

Police believe the abuse happened during the summer. Melthratter is no longer employed by the college.

According to the Mt. Hood Community College website, Melthratter was prohibited from being on the campus as of Oct. 28.

The college said Melthratter was fired after the allegations surfaced. He worked as a part time lifeguard at the college's aquatic center from March 2012 to November 2013.

Police believe there may be more victims. If you have any information about the suspect or this case, contact Gresham police.
