Woman transforms home into massive Nutcracker Suite

A local woman is bringing a whole new meaning to the "Nutcracker Suite." Her home is filled wall to wall with nutcrackers this holiday season.

It's a collection Jeanie Ganz says that's been 40 years in the making.

"I just love them so much, they're so cute," said Ganz.

Ganz began collecting the nutcrackers one at a time, but now estimates she has more than 700 inside of her home.

"One year I just went crazy," she laughed. "My daughter thinks I have a lot more, but I don't like to over count, I do have a lot."

Ganz's nutcracker collection ranges in sizes, the smallest nutcracker just a half inch, the largest about six feet tall.

Her collection includes the cast of the Wizard of Oz, former presidents, the Phantom of the Opera and just about anything else you could think of.

Don't ask her to pick a favorite she says, much like her children, she can't.

"I love them all, just look at their faces," said Ganz.

Her collection grew to be so large, that her late husband built her a special space in the attic to store them all.

Ganz says she has different nutcrackers for each of the holidays, and typically begins decorating for Christmas months beforehand.

"We have the grandkids up for the holidays, and they bring their friends and their parents, and they all love to look at the nutcrackers," said Ganz.

"I love to see the people's reactions to them. There's always one that people like that reminds them of something that happened to them, and I do get a lot of pleasure in that."
