Linn County deputies are investigating a grisly murder-suicide in the Harrisburg area.

On Monday, family members of Jacqueline Marroquin, 34, of Eugene, reported her missing to the Eugene Police Department.

Officers sent a request out to local law enforcement agencies in an attempt to find her.

The request indicated that Marroquin was possibly in her 2008 Honda Accord with her longtime boyfriend, Rolando De Paz, 51, of Eugene.

A resident in the 30,000 block of Tosta Drive in a rural area of Harrisburg found the car about 11:15 a.m. Tuesday and notified authorities.

Deputies discovered that the car contained evidence of foul play.

The evidence included blood in the car and a machete, deputies said.

Upon further investigation, deputies found Marroquin's body in a brushy area, about 50 yards from the car.

A short time later, while searching the area from the air, detectives located De Paz's body about a half-mile from the car, deputies said.

Investigators learned Marroquin and De Paz had been together for several years and they were currently going through a separation, deputies said.

Marroquin died from injuries she sustained from the machete and De Paz hanged himself, deputies said.
