A recent report accuses smart TVs of downloading user patterns and then sending them to the manufacturer.
Justin Brookman from the Center for Democracy and Technology says, "They're smart TVs, that means they're connected to the internet so you can do cool things like Skype or Netflix but companies now are finding ways to take advantage of it for their own benefit."
One manufacturer claims they have never gathered information without the user's consent. However in this case, the user's consent simply means agreeing to the terms and conditions of purchasing the TV.
