SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

A man accused of speeding on Interstate 5 in Woodburn told a Marion County sheriff's deputy he would "probably blow a .12" if his blood alcohol content was tested, according to the sheriff's office.

Samuel Purtle, 46, hit speeds of up to 100 mph in a construction zone Sunday morning before being stopped around 7:22 a.m., deputies said.

The deputy said Purtle told him, "I will probably blow a .12, but I'm hoping to be a .07," referencing his blood alcohol content.

Purtle failed field sobriety tests, then was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence and taken to the Marion County Jail. His blood alcohol content was found to be .15, which is almost twice the legal limit.

In addition to the driving under the influence charges, Purtle received several traffic citations related to his speeding.
