PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

When they're not busy putting out fires and responding to medical calls, Portland firefighters are helping out lots of animals. First on Thursday Jan. 2, crews freed Rigby the cat from a crawl space in the Hillsdale neighborhood. He had been stuck for several days but crews managed to cut a  small hole just large enough for him to crawl out.

Then Saturday morning, crews responded to a call of a sheep that had fallen into the Columbia River Slough in the 800 block of NE Meadow Drive. Firefighters lowered a ladder down the embankment and managed to free the sheep. Both the sheep and cat are doing just fine.
