Body of missing Oregon City man found in Willamette River

Posted: Updated:

A fisherman found the body Sunday of Adrien Chase, an Oregon City man who vanished on the night of his 35th birthday.

Chase's body was found floating in the Willamette River near the Interstate 205 Bridge on Sunday afternoon. Clackamas County marine patrol deputies recovered the body, which was then taken to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office.

Investigators said there's no sign of foul play involved in Chase's death.

Chase went out with his friends on Dec. 5, ate cake with his cousin and made plans to go to a movie that weekend. He went to bed, but not before writing something in his journal:

"The last entry that night said, 'I had a great birthday, it's gonna be a great year,'" said his mother, Joellen Kuhl.

Chase left his cell phone, keys, backpack and wallet at his Oregon City home, and he was never heard from again.

In the days and weeks after his disappearance, his family plastered fliers all over area parks, churches, homeless camps and homeless shelters.

Investigators are still awaiting word on the official cause of Chase's death, which is expected to come from autopsy results.
