PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A popular outdoor store is planning to open up in Portland.

Evo announced it will open a store in the Rose City by this fall.

For now, anyone in Portland trying to shop at Evo, has had to either drive to the main store in Seattle, or use the store's website.

The old Salvation Army building at Martin Luther King Junior Blvd and Southeast Pine will be home to the new Evo store in Portland.

The company said it felt Portland was the natural place for its second location.

The historic building will be transformed into the new store that will offer two floors of retail and a floor for services.

Evo sells skis, snowboards and skate wear, but the company says it wants the store to be more than just a retail experience.

"We're more than just a ski and snowboard shop. We try to integrate culture and community arts, and music is a big part of our whole philosophy," said Chris Dickerson, who works with Evo.

The building will also provide a space for an art gallery that will switch out every month.

While the southern wall on the inside store, will be transformed into a mural. The company says that mural will be changed out every six months.

They're also working with historians to be able to tell the history of the 120-year-old building.

Construction on the building is set to begin in about two weeks.

It'll then take about six months to refurbish the inside of the building so it can be ready to open later this year.

The company is updating its shoppers via its web site; www.evo.com
