HOOD RIVER, OR (KPTV) -

A boulder the size of a Volkswagen Beetle fell right onto Interstate 84.

Oregon State Police say it blocked one lane of traffic going eastbound just west of Hood River Sunday.

No cars were damaged.

Fox 12 viewer Darla Gjino sent a picture.

She was in a car and watched as the boulder rolled down the hill, bounced over the median and landed on the freeway right in front of the car.

Crews worked for about two hours to get it moved out of the way.

During wet periods and high winds, police remind motorists to be alert for the potential of falling rocks, slides and other roadway obstructions. Most are not the size of this boulder, but they may be unexpected and cause problems for drivers traveling in the Columbia River Gorge and on other highways.

If you see a hazardous roadway condition or obstruction, contact Oregon State Police or call 911.
