BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Beaverton police say an angry driver pulled a weapon on three people in another car during an apparent fit of road rage.

The victims say they came face to with the barrel of his gun at a stoplight on Scholls Ferry Road near Cascade Avenue.

"It looked to me like a 9mm," said Sean Mathews, one of the alleged victims.

Mathews is an avid hunter and knows guns. The last place he ever expected to see one was hanging out the window of a car and pointed right at him.

"All of a sudden he pulls back over in front of him and pulls out a gun, and is like, 'I'm going to shoot you,' bang bang with his fingers," Mathews said.

Police said the man holding the weapon was 32-year-old Anderson Harguth. According to officers, it all started Saturday afternoon.

Mathews, his girlfriend and her brother were changing lanes to get on OR 217 North. That's when, he said, Harguth tried to ram them with his car and pulled the gun.

"Because someone's getting in front of you?" Mathews asked. "You really have to ask, what are you thinking?"

But, Mathews said, what is most shocking is that Harguth wasn't alone in the car. According to police, the passenger was his 9-year-old daughter.

"We're adults. We can move on but, that kid at 9 years old is going to be traumatized," Mathews said.

He said he's just thankful everyone could walk away from a situation that could have had a dangerous end.

"I'm just lucky that nobody got hurt and that justice was served, that my girlfriend lives to see another day and we all do," he said.

As for how and why this all happened to him, Mathews has a more simple explanation.

"People are stupid," he said.

Police arrested Harguth right after the incident as he was pulling into his driveway. On Monday nigh,t he was still in jail facing three counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
