Bike theft caught on camera in NE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A Portland man hopes tips from the public will help him track down a bicycle stolen from the bike rack at the Central Eastside Lofts on Northeast Sixth Avenue and Davis Street last week.

Matthew Wood said his bike, a custom-built 2012 Giant Defy 2, had been locked up at the bike rack at the front door.

Surveillance photos from the loft show thieves casing out the bike, and later cutting the lock and walking off with it.

"It happened at 9:45 and I thought, what a brazen thing to do," Wood said. "So I was shocked, and sad more than anything."

Wood's bike has an XL frame with all custom components. It is primarily black with a red and white highlights or decals, and has black tires on silver rims.

Wood filed a police report. He also posted an ad on Craigslist.

Anyone with information on the identity of the thieves is asked to call the Portland Police Bureau.
