PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police say a pedestrian was hit by two cars and was rushed to the hospital.

It happened near 82nd Avenue and Raymond Street just after 7 p.m. Sunday. Paramedics found the man with traumatic injuries and took him to the hospital.

Police say the drivers and cars involved stopped and stayed on the scene after the crash.

They say the cars were heading south on 82nd when a pedestrian stepped off the curb and into the street.

According to police, the first car hit the pedestrian. They say he then went over the car and was hit by a second vehicle.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the first crash.

Customers in a nearby business told Fox 12 they didn't see the wreck happen but did see emergency crews pull up and help someone in the street. They say that person was taken away by ambulance in a matter of minutes.

Police say the man was wearing dark clothing and was not in a crosswalk. He is listed in critical condition at Oregon Health & Science University.
