TONOPAH, AZ (CBS5) -

Several people were rescued from a mountain ledge near Tonopah after they got trapped there overnight, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.

The group was hiking Saddle Mountain, and at about 11 p.m., MCSO received word they were stuck near Salome Highway and Courthouse Road near Tonopah, about 50 miles west of Phoenix.

Sheriff's deputies said the hikers were lightly dressed since they had not intended to spend the night there, said MCSO spokesman Chris Hegstrom.

The MCSO search and rescue team located them and stayed with them through the night.

At daybreak, they were brought to safety.

Hegstrom said no one in the group was injured.
