RIDGEFIELD, WA (KPTV) -

Police say an 84-year-old man drove the wrong way on Interstate 5 near Ridgefield and caused a three-car crash that killed a 6-year-old boy.

It happened at 2 p.m. in the northbound lanes.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, Gage Musgrave, of Vancouver, drove a 2005 Toyota Avalon the wrong way on the highway.

They say he merged on going north in the southbound lanes.

His car collided with a 2008 Nissan Altima driven by Ericka Gorremans, 32, of La Center.

A Ford F-150 pickup driven by Darren Watts, 46, of Vancouver, then hit Musgrave's car, according to WSP.

Gorremans 6-year-old nephew, Henry Babitzke, was killed. Her 10-year-old son was flown to Oregon Health & Science University for treatment.

Musgrave is in satisfactory condition at PeaceHealth SW Medical Center while Gorremans is reported in critical condition at OHSU.

Watts was not injured.

Troopers said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. They said Musgrave is cooperating with police as they continue their investigation.

The collision was cleared at 4:20 p.m., but there were delays in both directions of the highway near the scene for hours Friday.
