TBI investigates Bobo murder suspect in 2011 attempted abduction

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is looking into whether Holly Bobo murder suspect, Zachary Adams, is connected to the attempted abduction of another Tennessee woman.

Just three months before Holly Bobo went missing, Heather Sullivan claimed a man tried to abduct her in Centerville, Tenn. She says the man almost succeeded, but she scared him away.

"I was going with him he was making sure of that, that's how hard he grabbed me. I mean, I had marks on my arm for four days," said Sullivan.

Sullivan would later tell investigators that she believed the man who tried to abduct her is Zachary Adams; the same man accused of kidnapping and murdering Holly Bobo three years ago.

Investigators began searching his home several days ago, and a spokesman for TBI says the agency is now looking into whether Adams is connected to Sullivan's attempted abduction.

Meanwhile, there are new details regarding Adams' former stepfather and an incident so chilling, the stepfather did not want Action News 5 to show his face.

The incident dates back to 2004 when Adams was accused of shooting his own mother in the knee. Court records show that his sentence for the shooting was reduced to just six months.

Adams' former stepfather says he was there when the shooting happened.

"If I hadn't been home, she would have bled to death," he said.

He also told Action News 5 that he was so afraid of Zachary, he took extreme measures whenever he went to bed while Adams was in the house.

"I would sleep with a meat cleaver under my side of the mattress because I never knew if he was going to kill me or not."

On Friday, officers arrested Zachary Adams for holding a gun to a female friend's head last month and threatening to "gut" her, according to an affidavit of complaint. Twenty-nine-year old Adams is currently locked up in the Chester County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Additionally, Adams is also facing drug charges in Benton County. According to court records, after a search warrant was executed at the home of Adams' girlfriend on February 26. Officers charged him with possession of methamphetamines, marijuana and unlawful drug paraphernalia.

Adams also has past convictions in Decatur County for felony possession of marijuana, felony probation violation, felony theft of property $10,000 to $60,000 and misdemeanor assault with threat of bodily injury.

TBI said credible information in connection with the Bobo investigation led them to search Adams' property. Holly Bobo was abducted from her home outside Parsons, Tenn. on April 13, 2011. She has not been seen or heard from since.

Adams is next due in court on March 5 for the drug charges in Benton County and on March 10 for the charges in Decatur County.
