VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) -

After hitting a barrier on I-5, police say two teens with alcohol in their car decided to run away from the scene.

It happened just after 2 p.m. Thursday on northbound I-5 near Vancouver.

Witnesses called police saying the couple had ditched the wrecked car and headed onto Burnt Bridge Creek Trail.

Police caught up with the pair, heading north about a mile away from 15th avenue.

The teens, both 19 years old, were arrested.

The driver, Jade Steward, is charged with DUI, hit and run and reckless driving. Cheyanne Hirt is facing a charge of being a minor in possession.

Both suspects refused to answer any questions on where they were coming from or where they were going, according to police.
