Portland firefighters riding a jet ski pulled a naked man out of the Willamette River on Friday morning.
Fire crews said they received a report of a man floating in the river and hanging onto a log near the 800 block of North River Street - that's just north of the Broadway Bridge - around 7:45 a.m.
The man was naked and unconscious when fire crews pulled him out of the water. He was in an area difficult to reach with their regular rescue boat.
Rescue workers began life-saving efforts as they took him to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office boat ramp in northwest Portland.
The man was identified as Michael Wilcox, 34. He is in critical condition at the hospital.
It wasn't immediately clear what he was doing in the water.
