TROUTDALE, OR (KPTV) -

A man missing since February 26 has been found dead.

The Multnomah County Sheriffs Office confirms a body pulled from the Sandy River near the Troutdale Airport is that of 29-year-old Kyle Peterson.

A hiker first reported seeing what he thought was a body floating in the river Friday afternoon near the mouth of the river.

Peterson walked away from a car crash in Troutdale.

Authorities on the scene that night said Peterson appeared fine.

The family mounted several searches for him including using a drone equipped with a camera to search the Sandy River.

A statement from the family appeared on the Find Kyle Peterson Facebook page reading in part "Our family is in utter shock and heartbroken that we have lost a son, a brother, an uncle and friend. Kyle was a wonderful person whose life was cut tragically short. We love you Kyle."
