LINCOLN CITY, OR (KPTV) -

A visitor on the Oregon Coast may have picked the worst place to park in all of Lincoln City on Sunday.

The Pacific Ocean engulfed the person's car on the beach below A Vista D'Mar hotel around 11:15 a.m. That's next to the 15th Street beach ramp in the popular Oregon Coast town.

Witness Julie Lay said the car became stuck in the sand as the tide came in. The waves engulfed the car, then floated and rotated it.

She said the owners eventually returned to their car and removed items from it in between the onslaught of waves.

Police were called in and a track hoe was used to move the car out of the ocean.

Emergency dispatchers told FOX 12 it's common for cars to become stuck on the beach in that area.

They said the car owners were not injured.
