PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

An argument led to a stabbing involving a 22-inch machete in southeast Portland.

Police were called to Colonel Summers Park, Southeast 19th and Taylor Street, at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Emergency crews arrived and found a man suffering from a stab wound. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Officers said his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The suspect was then found in the park and taken into custody. Police said a machete about 22 inches in length was also seized as evidence.

Police said both men are transients who apparently got into an argument that escalated into a stabbing.

Neither man was identified by police.

Assault detail detectives and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division responded to the scene to investigate.
