Garbage is piling up outside a Vancouver home, and neighbors want it gone. They said the stacks of trash have been there for months.
"It's going to become a dump site, and that's my fear," neighbor Carmen Chavez said.
As the garbage piled up, neighbors got fed up.
"It's very annoying," neighbor Corina Keller said. "That's why we've called the city."
They said it started a couple months ago when the person who lived in a house at 27th and Fruit Valley moved out. Since then, the front driveway has become a dumping site for anything and everything.
"They pull up in the middle of the night and we can hear them out there just tossing stuff into it," Keller said.
Now the question is: Who is responsible for cleaning up the stacks of beer boxes, torn up mattresses and other junk?
"I thought that the bank or the city or somebody would come pick it up, but they haven't," Chavez said.
Neighbors said the property is in foreclosure. Late Monday, FOX 12 tried to contact the bank but have not heard back.
The city's code compliance department said there is an open complaint involving the property. In cases like the current one, someone will go out to evaluate the violations and try to get the property back in compliance.
Neighbors hope that comes sooner rather than later.
