Volunteer musician says accordion, other equipment was stolen

Posted: Updated:

A volunteer musician says someone broke into her car and took off with about $7,000 worth of musical gear, including her accordion.

It happened Saturday night near Northeast 10th and Couch.

Elizabeth Wisler had just finished playing for travelers at the airport, where she volunteers twice a week.

She went to meet a friend for dinner and left her gear in the car. She said she never does that but was in a time crunch. When Wisler came out, she found someone had smashed in her front window and took off with her accordion and all the accessories that go with it.

"It's like my right arm, somebody said. I can't do without that accordion because it's just something that you get attached to," Wisler said.

She said without her accordion, she'll make do. For now, she has to cancel a couple of shifts volunteering at the airport.

She has a back-up instrument but hopes someone will realize what they took and make it right.
