An off-duty Oregon State Police trooper was hurt and his 18-year-old son killed after a head-on crash on Highway 22 near Dallas on Friday night.

The driver of the other vehicle involved was also killed, and the passenger was seriously hurt.

According to OSP, the crash happened around 7:04 p.m. on Friday when a Ford Ranger pickup traveling eastbound tried to pass a car on a two lane highway and ended up crashing head-on with a Toyota RAV4 that was traveling westbound.

Troopers said the driver of the Ford Ranger was Cayden Thomas Fitch, 18. His father, Bryan Fitch, 43, of Lincoln City is an OSP trooper. Cayden Fitch was killed, and his dad was seriously hurt.

Officials said the people in the Toyota RAV4 were identified as driver, Michael Joseph Moylett, 69, and his wife, Estella Moylett, 61, from Gresham. Michael Moylett was killed in the crash while his wife suffered serious injuries.

Investigators said the Ford Ranger came to rest across the center of the highway. The SUV ended up on the north side of the highway bordering bushes and trees. Everyone in both cars was wearing their seat belts.

OSP Superintendent Richard Evans issued a statement about the crash, saying; "We speak often publicly about how families and friends are affected by motor vehicle collisions and that lives are forever impacted. Friday evening, two families and our department are sadly experiencing such a loss. Please keep both families in your thoughts and prayers."

OSP along with the assistance of the Keizer Police Department are investigating the crash.
