FOREST GROVE, OR (KPTV) -

An eight-hour standoff ended with the arrest of a man accused of shooting at a business owner and threatening to kill police in Forest Grove.

Police were called to K&S Auto Sales, 3821 Pacific Ave., at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Witnesses said a man with a gun walked through the parking lot and entered the business. When officers arrived at the scene, they learned an attempted robbery was in progress.

Police said the owner of the business fought with the suspect, identified as Gregory Glanville, 56. Shots were fired and investigators said the gunfire narrowly missed hitting the business owner.

Police surrounded the location. The Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team was called to the scene.

Police said Glanville was still armed with a gun during the standoff and threatened to kill officers.

After Glanville continued refusing to surrender, chemical agents were fired into the building in an attempt to force him out.

Glanville was eventually taken into custody shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday.

The business owner suffered minor injuries during his struggle with the suspect. A woman and child in the business were not injured.

No officers were hurt.

Glanville is facing charges of attempted murder, robbery, unlawful use of a weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He also had a warrant out of Deschutes County.

Police said Glanville is a transient who at one time lived in Forest Grove.
