Goose found with arrow through neck being treated by rescue group

Posted: Updated:

Officials with the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue are treating what they say is the second goose in less than a week that was shot with an arrow.

The goose, which has an arrow through her body near her neck, was found at a pond off East Barden Street behind Sunrise Senior Living on Providence Road. This is the same pond another goose shot by an arrow was rescued from in 2012.

The shooter, officials say, is believed to live in the area.

Officials say they had received calls about the injured goose for several months before it was finally located. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care and Control responded and contacted the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.

The goose was taken to their facilities in Indian Trail and is being treated for a serious infection of the wound.

Another goose was found less a week before in Fayetteville with an arrow through her wing. That goose, officials said, is preparing to be a mother to five eggs that were also brought to Indian Trail.

Anyone with information about the shooter is asked to contact authorities.
