Police: Homeowner catches burglar in the act, tackles him

Posted: Updated:

A West Linn man said he tackled a burglar after he came home and saw the man taking stuff from his house.

Bill Gellos said he saw the man running out the back of his house with a blanket full of stolen items. He chased him outside and around to the front yard, where he tackled him.

A friend called police and helped hold the alleged burglar down. He said the man struggled the whole time and asked to be let go.

Police showed up about four minutes later and arrested Ezekiel Stroschien for burglary, theft, meth and other crimes.

Gellos said it was the last thing he expected to come home to after just being gone for a few minutes.

"I didn't think twice. He had my stuff, and I just thought of all the things I enjoy that's mine that he could be stealing, and I just went after him," Gellos said.

Police said Stroschien drove to the house in a stolen Mercedes Benz.
