AURORA, OR (KPTV) -

A man who asked about an antique knife at an Aurora shop ended up stealing three Civil War-era pistols.

Marion County deputies are asking for the public's help identifying the theft suspect.

On April 6, a man asked an employee at Main Street Mercantile about the price on a knife. With the clerk distracted, the man broke the locks on a trophy case and took three pistols valued at more than $5,000.

Investigators released surveillance images of the suspect Thursday.

He is described as a white man in his 40s. He is 5'10" to 6' tall with a heavy set build. He has brown hair and was wearing an Ohio State Buckeyes hat.

If you recognize the suspect or have any other information about this case, you're asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at 503-588-5032. You can remain anonymous.
