Police prepare for traffic issues around Steeplechase

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police are advising drivers that traffic will be congested Saturday in west Nashville as 25,000 spectators head to Percy Warner Park for the Iroquois Steeplechase.

Old Hickory Boulevard will be closed to eastbound traffic between Vaughn Road and Edinburgh Drive beginning at 9 a.m.

Then, beginning at 4 p.m., Old Hickory Boulevard will be closed to westbound traffic at Hillsboro Road.

General admission parking will be available on Highway 100 with shuttles transporting people to the event.

Organizers say only vehicles with parking permits will be allowed to park on or immediately adjacent to the Steeplechase grounds.

And police will be watching closely for impaired and intoxicated drivers in the vicinity of Percy Warner Park.

For complete details on the Steeplechase, including maps of the grounds and where to park, visit: http://iroquoissteeplechase.org.
