2006 report raises more questions about fireman's murder

Posted: Updated:

19 Action News reporter Ed Gallek uncovered more questions surrounding a Cleveland firefighter, recently murdered off-duty.

The murder of Theodore Wright was not the first time to see his name in a police report under odd circumstances. Gallek found the 2006 report said just enough to make you want to know more, especially since someone recently shot him to death and that is still a mystery.

In 2006, Wright told police 10 to 15 guys beat him up around 1 a.m. Wright said he'd gone to a home on the near east side to check on a missing juvenile girl.

The report doesn't say more but police and co-workers told Gallek they always felt there had to be more to it, considering it was 1 a.m. on the near east side and Wright lived in North Royalton.

Then weeks ago, Wright crashed into a pole after he was shot overnight on the east side.

Gallek checked with police on that 2006 case and was told there were no arrests or notes of any investigative follow up.

There's no way to tell what really happened there or if there's any connection to the murder. But there is now even more mystery surrounding Wright's death.
