ELYRIA, OH (WOIO) -

Elyria Police and fire responded to 764 Georgetown Ave. Sunday afternoon for a car that crashed into a home.

The Ford Focus struck another parked car and sent that vehicle into a pole before the Focus crossed Georgetown and rammed into the first floor of the house.

The driver suffered facial injuries in what was described as a heavy impact crash and was transported to Elyria Memorial Hospital

The homeowners told first responders they were lucky they weren't in that room at the time of the accident.

The car also crashed into a gas meter, causing a brief leak in the area. Columbia Gas was called and the gas was shut off.

There's no word from police on whether they believe the driver was intoxicated.
