Wet roads are being blamed in a deadly crash on Highway 20 east of the Santiam Summit in Jefferson County.

Oregon State Police say Ellen Freddi, of Jefferson, was heading east on Highway 20 when she lost control of her 2008 Ford Focus and hit the guardrail at around 12:30 Sunday afternoon.

The car then continued into the westbound lane where it collided nearly head-on with a 2007 Honda Accord.

The Honda spun and was hit in the driver's side by a 2009 Toyota RAV SUV.

The driver of the Honda, a 33-year-old man, died at the scene.

A passenger and two children in the Honda were taken to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, before one of the children was taken by air ambulance to OHSU.

Freddi and her two passengers were taken to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. They are expected to survive.

The driver of the Toyota, Steven Warner, and his passenger were treated at the scene.

The highway was closed while the injured were taken to the hospital.
