San Diego E-Commerce Company Thanks Foundation for Saving Lives and Homes
SAN DIEGO, May 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- San Diego employer Provide Commerce is giving a $25,000 donation to the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation, in recognition of the efforts to keep San Diego safe from the devastating fires. The company's ecommerce brands, which include ProFlowers®, Personal Creations®, RedEnvelope® and Shari's Berries®, employ hundreds of San Diego locals, many of whom were affected by the recent fires. The donation, the largest of its kind so far in this year's wildfire season, is a token of gratitude for all the work the firefighters have done to keep the San Diego community, including Provide Commerce employees, safe.
"This gift is our way of sincerely thanking the amazing team of first responders who tirelessly fought the terrifying stream of wildfires in San Diego last week," said Chris Shimojima, Provide Commerce CEO. "Many of our Provide Commerce employees live in the paths of the firestorms and had to evacuate. But every one of them was safe, thanks to the incredible job the firefighters did, and are still doing."
Shimojima continued, "We know how vigilant the Fire Rescue Foundation has been in working to protect our first responders and hope that our heartfelt contribution will help to provide the technology, equipment and training needs so that the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department can continue to do an extraordinary job. Our hearts go out to those who lost their homes and we hope this contribution helps protect others in the future."
"We are extremely grateful for the generous donation from Provide Commerce. This last week has been a true testament to the strength and resilience of not only our firefighters, but also our San Diego community," said San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation Executive Director Wendy Robinson. "This donation shows just how much companies like Provide Commerce truly care about their employees and the San Diego community in which they operate. We truly appreciate all that they are doing for the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation during this challenging time in our community."
Provide Commerce presented the San Diego Fire Rescue Foundation and San Diego Fire Chief Javier Mainar with a check May 23 at the Provide Commerce headquarters, located at 4840 Eastgate Mall. For more information about Provide Commerce and its family of brands, visit www.providecommerce.com.
