GLEN ALLEN, Va. and LINCOLN PARK, N.J., May 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Alliance Corporation (Alliance), a full-service value-added distributor and manufacturer of products and solutions for the wireless industry, today announced a sales and co-marketing agreement to re-sell Straight Path Spectrum, Inc.'s licensed 39 GHz microwave spectrum in the United States. Straight Path Spectrum, Inc. a subsidiary of Straight Path Communications Inc. (NYSE MKT: STRP), is a holder of a nationwide portfolio of 39 GHz FCC licensed spectrum.

The agreement will allow Alliance to bundle Straight Path's licensed spectrum with several of Alliance's microwave manufacturers and offer wireless network operators high data capacity in the relatively abundant 39 GHz band, quickly and economically.   The solution offers a compelling alternative to the traditional Part-101 licensed frequencies, particularly for those network operators and enterprise users who need rapid deployment in one of the many U.S. cities facing frequency congestion today.  Additionally the 39 GHz band allows for Point-to-Multi-Point (PMP) transmissions, as well as small form factor radios – features that are indispensable for certain network build outs.

"Alliance has been exploring options in large markets where licensed spectrum has become difficult to coordinate and obtain," said Thomas Ferris, Director of U.S. Broadband Sales at Alliance.  "Straight Path offers our customers a quick and cost effective means by which to install high capacity wireless links when and where they need them.  This partnership gives us the ability to craft innovative and flexible pricing models for operators looking to expand their use of wireless backhaul throughout a large number of U.S. cities."

The key benefits for wireless network operators as Alliance offers Straight Path licensed spectrum include:

  • Enabling Alliance to expand its capability of truly being a one-stop shop for U.S. operators
  • Licensed Spectrum will be available in all major U.S. markets
  • Quick coordination and FCC filing within 48 hours of requested licensed link, in most cases
  • Flexible lease terms to match nearly any business model for best ROI per customer
  • Availability of the highest quality microwave manufacturer equipment to support functionality in 39 GHz

Davidi Jonas, Straight Path Spectrum's CEO remarked, "This win-win partnership with Alliance – one of the most trusted names in the industry among wireless networks and equipment manufacturers – further demonstrates the relevance of our nationwide Spectrum holdings. There is a market demand for high capacity wireless connectivity that can be implemented quickly and cost effectively, especially in the most densely populated environments where our capacity is particularly robust. We are seamlessly inserting our licensed Spectrum into the supply chain by partnering with leaders in wireless technology and network operations. We expect this partnership to shorten the sales cycle and increase the bottom line for our partner, Alliance Corporation, while simultaneously bolstering our leasing business, and thus growing Straight Path Spectrum's annual recurring revenue base."
