BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Two local women are accused of sex trafficking a 17-year-old girl who had been missing from her California home since January.

Beaverton police began the investigation on May 23.

Detectives said Erica Lummus, 23, was taken into custody after arriving at a Beaverton motel to engage in prostitution.

Investigators said she was with a 17-year-old girl at the motel. Evidence and statements at the scene led detectives to believe Lummus, as well as a second woman, were involved in sex trafficking the teen.

Further investigation revealed the girl had a protective custody warrant out of Bakersfield, CA and had been missing since January.

Lummus was cited and released and the case was forwarded to a grand jury.

Lummus and 24-year-old Italia Porter were then indicted on federal charges of sex trafficking of a minor, transportation of a minor for prostitution and violation of the Mann Act. Warrants were issued for their arrests.

Lummus, of Molalla, was arrested on June 1 in Portland. Porter, of Vancouver, was arrested three days later.

They were both booked in the Multnomah County Jail.

Beaverton police said the 17-year-old girl was taken into protective custody.
