Two sobriety checkpoints were held Saturday, June 7, in Toledo. Between the two checkpoints, six vehicles were diverted for suspicion of operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI); Five of the six were arrested.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the first checkpoint took place at Crissey Avenue from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Officers will also be position at McCord Road from midnight to 3 a.m.
Officers say the goal of the checkpoint was to deter and intercept impaired drivers. Officers were also aggressively patrolling areas nearby.
In total, 160 vehicles were checked. At Crissey Road, one driver was arrested for OVI. The same driver was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
At the McCord Rd checkpoint, there were five drivers arrest for OVI.
Authorities want to remind anyone who consumes alcohol to always designate a driver or make other travel arraignments before drinking.
