Police charged a woman with trying to kidnap three children in a Beaverton doughnut shop.
Jody Sime said she took her granddaughter to Sesame Donuts on 185th Avenue on Monday morning, to surprise the girl's dad with a box of doughnuts at work.
Sime said a drunk woman walked into the shop and started throwing things. Court documents identify that woman as Casandra Chase.
Sime said Chase tried to pull the girl away from her grandmother. When Sime told her to leave her alone, Chase approached two other children and told them to come with her. Those children's mother called police.
"I think she was more than just intoxicated," said Sime. "You could smell the alcohol, but the look in her eyes was more like she was strung out on something, so I think it was a combination of drugs and alcohol. I was really annoyed that at 10 something in the morning, I was exposing my granddaughter to this."
Officers arrested Chase on charges of harassment and attempted kidnapping. She's due in court Tuesday.
Police said Chase had no connection to either of the families she harassed.
