LINCOLN CITY, OR (KPTV) -

An adult store employee was handcuffed and locked in a bathroom by armed robbers, but police said the whole thing was staged and the alleged victim was in on the crime.

The worker called 911 at 10:10 p.m. on Sunday from Imagine That adult store and arcade, 2159 NW Highway 101 in Lincoln City.

The supposed victim, identified as 38-year-old David Bogart, told emergency dispatchers that he was still in handcuffs, but he believed the armed suspects had left the building.

Police surrounded the store, but the suspects were not immediately located.

As the investigation unfolded, police said they had evidence that Bogart's boyfriend, Jordan Stephens, 19, was directly involved in the robbery.

Bogart and Stephens were then contacted at an apartment complex on Southeast 32nd Street. Police said further investigation revealed that the pair had conspired with two other friends to commit the robbery.

The two other suspects were located in an apartment at the same complex.

Christopher Loring, 26, and Brett Betts, 26, were also arrested.

Police said they found $435 in cash taken from the business inside Loring's apartment. A large number of stolen adult-themed items were also recovered by officers, as well as glass smoking pipes and clothing taken during the robbery.

Investigators said the value of the stolen merchandise is $3,800.

Police said an Airsoft handgun was used as part of the staged robbery and it was also recovered from Loring's apartment.

All four suspects were booked in jail and face charges including conspiracy to commit robbery and theft. Bogart also faces the additional charge of initiating a false police report.

Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call Officer Torin Liden at 541-994-3636.
