PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A fast-moving thunderstorm rolled through the Portland metro area on Monday.

The storm hit west Vancouver and the St. Johns area just before 3:30 p.m. Nearly three hours later, that area was hit by another storm cell, according to FOX 12 meteorologists.

The storm also brought thunder, lightning and hail in and around Portland. From Air 12 in Clackamas County, some streets almost looked as if they were covered in snow because so much hail had fallen.

FOX 12 viewers reported seeing hail the size of quarters in the Milwaukie-Oak Grove area.

Nearly 5,000 people lost power in Clackamas County as the storm moved through the area.

In the Camas-Washougal area, more than 14,000 customers were without power, according to a Clark Public Utilities representative. The cause of that major outage was believed to be weather-related.

According to FOX 12 meteorologist Brian MacMillan, showers were expected to continue throughout the evening and into Tuesday morning for the metro area. By Tuesday afternoon, some clearing is expected.

There were no immediate reports of serious damage from the storm.
