PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The wife of a man suspected of slashing a man's stomach open in an argument on June 29 is denouncing her husband's actions.

Michelle Khukhryanskiy said she has known the suspect, Andrey Khukhryanskiy, for seven years, but said the two had been separated for some time.  She said her husband had problems with drug abuse, and seemed to be spiraling downward. But when she heard about the violent attack he is accused of, she was speechless.

"I can't explain how he was," Michelle Khukhryanskiy said. "But who he is now makes me sick to my stomach.

According to court documents, Andrey Khukhryanskiy left the scene of the stabbing and proceeded to steal a car, which he drove to NE Portland.  There, in the course of stealing a pickup, he assaulted a second man, punching him in the face. Police arrested Khukhryanskiy a short distance away with the help of a K9 unit.

Khukhryanskiy is currently being held on more than $700,000 bond, and is due back in court on July 10.
