Thirty years later, that camp is running stronger than ever.
Lea Herny's 30th Annual L&G Camp of Champs kicked off Tuesday morning at Deerfield-Windsor.
Henry says it's hard to believe it's been three decades.
"Somebody had to remind me of that when I was sending out the brochures," she laughs. "What's really neat about it is watching kids grow up, watching kids' kids come to camp, seeing my nephews come to camp. It's a lot of fun."
The Darton State head coach says having fun is key to keeping the kids coming back.
"The kids ask to come back. A lot of them are repeat campers," she says. "It's a fun week for them, but I also think they learn a lot about the game."
Henry is joined by several other area coaches to run the skills camp.
"I think what makes the camp so successful is the coaches that we hire," Henry says. "We've got quality coaching going on here."
Around 85 kids are participating this year, nearly double the amount at Henry's first camp 30 years ago.
Henry will hold a second camp next week at Darton State.
